This is a brief history of apithology - from its origins to becoming the discipline for humanity nurturance.

Origins

Ideation

The first five years (1999-2004) centers apithology within the humanity-scale concerns of sustainable development. There is hope and optimism for the new millennium. A health of the whole of humanity approach is pioneered in the systems sciences. The next evolution in consciousness is explored enticingly bringing in elements of developmental psychology.

Foundations

Discovery

The second five years (2004-2009) provided discoveries about how apithology was unlike other fields. Looking at how thought itself forms meant there was a different way needed to see generative potentials and their contributive trajectories. Haphazard theory was replaced with informed humbleness. A community of learners formed and we reflected together in our personal attempts at learning and manifold applications.

Maturity

Learning

The third five years (2009-2014) became about learning how to learn in a community of humanity learners. We invented apithologues, masterclasses, personal practices, and new forms of humanity inquiry. Now knowing we could do this, the question next became, could this be something humanity could do for itself, so as to enable its own enablement? In establishing proof of concept (but not of general interest) the field moves into a new phase of transition and a different place of residing.

Expansion

Adaptation

The fourth five years (2014 - 2019) changed apithology significantly by a maturation to make this a humanity participatory discipline. This was not a product for human consumption, rather an inquiry form for people to participate in. The form of engagement is now larger than each person, and lasts longer than our own attendance. The Centre provides a capacity, a hope, and a centralisation newly curated. The field now dispenses with the myth of dependency on individual advancement. The academy becomes where one learns the skills to be contributive to humanity. For those who do this, or can learn to, they truly flourish within this invitation.

Potentiation

Prospects

The fifth five years (2019-2024), is about capturing and extending the canon of knowledge. In knowing how apithology is best learned its use can be guided, clarified and qualified. Being a new lineage the primary concerns are how to continue its practice enduringly. In this period of essentialisation we do not need to worry about its promulgation, until it is robust, enfolded and has generated its own space for reception.
